1998. Lots of shouting. "Go that way! No the other way!" We worked many hours to get to this point. My mom and I were on level 98 of Mrs. Pac Man, gunning for 100. Then we hit 99. The ghosts caught my mom and it looked like all hope was lost. "No no no!" It was so close I couldn't tell if I ate the last pellet or died. If you could witness our joy when we saw the flashing screen of victory! That's when I knew I wanted to make these joyful moments for others. At 7 years old I knew that I wanted to make games.
I went on to make my first game at 12 years old. I started teaching game programming at local libraries at 17. I took game development classes in college. Among many other things, I learned that making games is really hard. It takes the collaboration of so many disciplines, from programming to design, from modeling to writing, from music to publishing. And yet, many game developers are rewarded poorly.
It's one thing to say we should do better, but I decided to be the change I want to see in the world. I created Dream Woven Games to prove that we can make good games, make good money, and still treat our people well. Please join me on this mission!
